The Mineral Kings have existed in one form or another since two long time friends and veterans of the NYC rock scene, Art Forte and Carv Tefft, began sending four track tapes between Phoenix and San Francisco. On these tapes they exchanged ideas, and eventually tunes. The result was the 90's release, Tales of the Wailing Yackbone.

The Early Years
It was their love of writing music, their fantasies of stardom and the fact that Red Hook beer couldn’t be purchased in Phoenix at that time, that kept Carv and Art working on the original project. The logistical problem of living hundreds of miles apart made collaboration difficult at best. Carv lived in Phoenix, and Art had moved his family to the west coast to start a new life. Having known each other in New York City, Carv and Art reacquainted themselves and decided to once again work together. The result was a stellar album that received widespread radio play in Phoenix, critical acclaim, and solidified the spark of commitment. Art played all the instruments while Carv sang.

The Live Years
Eventually, Carv moved to San Francisco. It was decided Art would play bass in the live band, and that meant a drummer and guitarist were needed. Steve "Propane" Juliano was the drummer through most of the 90’s. His thick, heavy style was a major part of the live sound during this time. The guitarist position was filled with a different person every few months, creating a Spinal Tap revolving door scenario which resulted in a continuous lack of traction. Finally, as fate would have it, an advertisement in BAM magazine was answered by Tony Mòròsini. Tony joined the band, adding a harder edge to the sound. A demo, Diamond Head, was created as the precursor to a studio album.

Atomic Numbers
In 2000, the band without Tony, as he now lived in London, released Atomic Numbers. The album was the band’s premier accomplishment to date. Songs like For Granted and Love is Always Growing became instant MK classics.

Metropolis
In 2001, Tony moved back from London, and took over the drum position vacated by Juliano. The band worked over the next year in the studio, creating Metropolis, their best effort to date. Tony and Art both played guitar on the album. As they did for Atomic Numbers, the Mineral Kings returned to Studio 132 and the engineering services of Mr. BZ Lewis. Released in December 2002, Metropolis received a lot of praise and was well received by critics and fans alike. To make live shows possible, the Mineral Kings enlisted the support of long time MK friend Jay Strauss on guitar.

Today
The MKs occasionally record or play live today. Art and Carv are posting new songs on the site, and Carv and Tony currently record under the name Trez Rek 500
