Jay was the sole guitar player on the MK's 2003 World Domination Tour. Jay originally played lead guitar on the Mineral Kings' first release, Tales of the Wailing Yackbone and since then has played with Bay Area bands such as The Numbers, The Following Joys and Kaboom. As lead singer Carv Tefft so diplomatically put it, "He's a hell of a lot better than Tony or Art". Much of Jay's background is unknown. We do know that Jay grew up mostly in Singapore, as his family was involved in various international trade businesses. During the late 80's, Jay was appointed ambassador to Paraguay by the first George Bush, and has not been very involved in politics or international affairs since this time. Jay frequently travels to Asia for continued business dealings. Jay met Art and Carv a few years ago, as both Jay's band, The Numbers, and an early incarnation of the Mineral Kings were playing on the same bill at a Los Angeles music festival. Today, Jay lives in San Francisco. He was recently recognized as one of the West Coast's 25 most eligible bachelors by Vanity Fair. |
